Privacy Statement

Recently, the FTC, Federal Trade Commission, in accordance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, mandated that lawyers and law firms that provide tax advice, tax planning, tax return preparation, estate planning, financial advice, or other similar services inform their clients about the firm's personal privacy policy. The Act protects individuals who obtain a financial service or product, such as a title insurance commitment, policy, or real estate settlement service, primarily for personal family or household purposes.   In agreement with the new federal regulations, the purpose of this notice is to inform you of our firm's privacy policy regarding the disclosure of personal information about it's clients and customers.
   
    Attorneys have been and continue to be bound by professional standards of confidentiality that are more stringent than those required by law.  Therefore, we have always protected your right to privacy.  We obtain personal information from our meetings, conversations, and other  interactions with you.  This information is usually in the form of documents or other information you provide to us as a result of such interactions with you.  We may also obtain information from others who are asked to give it to us, another attorney or accountant who you requested cooperate with us, for example.  We may obtain information from public records or other persons as well.
   
    This firm's privacy policy is to follow the Rules of Professional Conduct that apply to lawyers and law firms such as ours.  Those Rules prevent us and those working for us from revealing information relating to our representation of you unless you consent after consultation, except for disclosures that are implicit in the representation or otherwise required by law.  In our case, nonpublic personal information may generally not be disclosed except:
    (A) as necessary to effectuate the transaction requested by the individual client;
    (B) to prevent fraud or unauthorized transactions;
    (C) to enforce or defend the rights of the Tighe law firm relating to legal services we provide to a client; or
    (D) as otherwise required by law.
In order to guard your personal information, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with our professional standards.
