Privacy Statement
Recently, the FTC, Federal Trade Commission, in accordance with the
Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, mandated that lawyers and law firms that
provide tax advice, tax planning, tax return preparation, estate
planning, financial advice, or other similar services inform their
clients about the firm's personal privacy policy. The Act protects
individuals who obtain a financial service or product, such as a title
insurance commitment, policy, or real estate settlement service,
primarily for personal family or household purposes. In
agreement with the new federal regulations, the purpose of this notice
is to inform you of our firm's privacy policy regarding the disclosure
of personal information about it's clients and customers.
Attorneys have been and continue to be bound by
professional standards of confidentiality that are more stringent than
those required by law. Therefore, we have always protected your
right to privacy. We obtain personal information from our
meetings, conversations, and other interactions with you.
This information is usually in the form of documents or other
information you provide to us as a result of such interactions with
you. We may also obtain information from others who are asked to
give it to us, another attorney or accountant who you requested
cooperate with us, for example. We may obtain information from
public records or other persons as well.
This firm's privacy policy is to follow the Rules of
Professional Conduct that apply to lawyers and law firms such as
ours. Those Rules prevent us and those working for us from
revealing information relating to our representation of you unless you
consent after consultation, except for disclosures that are implicit in
the representation or otherwise required by law. In our case,
nonpublic personal information may generally not be disclosed except:
(A) as necessary to effectuate the transaction requested by the individual client;
(B) to prevent fraud or unauthorized transactions;
(C) to enforce or defend the rights of the Tighe law
firm relating to legal services we provide to a client; or
(D) as otherwise required by law.
In order to guard your personal information, we maintain physical,
electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with our professional
standards.
